Art Basel 2025: A Premier Showcase of Global Art

Art Basel has unveiled the lineup for its highly anticipated 2025 edition, set to bring together 291 leading galleries from 42 countries and territories. Once again, the Swiss fair will serve as a dynamic hub for the global art world, fostering discovery, connections, and cultural exchange from June 19 to 22, with exclusive Preview Days on June 17 and 18 at Messe Basel.

A Global Gathering of Galleries

Eighteen galleries from across Europe, Asia, and the Americas will make their debut at the fair, enriching its scope with fresh perspectives. Among them, Arcadia Missa (London) and François Ghebaly (Los Angeles, New York) will enter directly into the main Galleries sector. Introducing the Premiere Sector

A major highlight of Art Basel 2025 is the introduction of the Premiere sector, a platform dedicated to bold, cutting-edge works from the past five years, presented by up to three artists per gallery. This new initiative cements the fair’s role in championing innovative voices and groundbreaking artistic production.

First-time exhibitors in Premiere:

  • Edel Assanti (London)
  • Kosaku Kanechika (Tokyo)

Immersive Installations and Special Sectors

Renowned artist Katharina Grosse will transform Messeplatz and its surrounding structures with her signature spray-gun technique, creating a vivid chromatic environment. Curated by Natalia Grabowska, Curator at Large for Architecture and Site-Specific Projects at Serpentine, London, this monumental intervention underscores Art Basel’s commitment to engaging audiences in immersive and impactful art experiences.

The Parcours sector, curated once again by Stefanie Hessler, Director of New York’s Swiss Institute (SI), will explore the theme of Second Nature, delving into the increasingly blurred lines between life and lifelikeness. This thoughtfully curated public art exhibition will extend along Clarastrasse towards the Rhine, transforming the urban landscape into an artistic journey of discovery.

Additionally, Unlimited, curated by Giovanni Carmine, Director of Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, will return as a dedicated space for monumental installations and performances that transcend the traditional art fair booth. This sector remains exclusive to Art Basel’s flagship fair, featuring around 70 large-scale works spanning various media.

The Kabinett sector, now in its third edition, will continue to provide exhibitors with a space to present curated installations within their main booths, adding another layer of depth and artistic inquiry to the fair’s diverse offerings.

Basel: A Cultural Destination

Beyond the fairgrounds, Art Basel 2025 will be accompanied by an array of events and exhibitions throughout the city, engaging Basel’s leading cultural institutions. This dynamic programming highlights the city’s unique appeal and solidifies its status as a key destination for the global art community.

Maike Cruse, Director of Art Basel in Basel, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming edition:
“I am excited to once again welcome the global art world to our flagship event in June. Art Basel 2025 promises to be a defining moment, showcasing a diverse range of extraordinary artworks, sparking international dialogue, and reinforcing its position as one of the most influential events on the global art calendar. With an unmatched lineup of galleries, the introduction of exciting new sectors like Premiere, the return of Parcours, and a stunning immersive installation by Katharina Grosse, Art Basel continues to be a powerful platform for discovery and a driving force for cultural exchange, innovation, and artistic expression.”

Supported by UBS as its Global Lead Partner, Art Basel in Basel continues to set the benchmark for premier art fairs worldwide. Its 2025 edition is poised to celebrate both historical and contemporary excellence, reaffirming its status as the ultimate gathering for art lovers, collectors, and professionals alike.
