Art Basel has unveiled its exhibitor list and first highlights for the 2025 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong, promising a compelling lineup that bridges the local art scene with an expansive global audience. With 242 premier galleries from 42 countries and territories, this edition reaffirms the fair’s position as Asia’s foremost destination for contemporary art, resonating with both regional and international collectors and enthusiasts.
The fair’s representation of Asia-Pacific is especially robust, with over half of the participating galleries hailing from the region—a testament to Art Basel’s dedication to amplifying voices from across Asia. This year’s lineup also welcomes 23 new exhibitors from India, Australia, Kosovo, Guatemala, Nigeria, South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Greater China region, infusing the fair with fresh perspectives and diverse artistic expressions.
For the first time, Art Basel Hong Kong has joined forces with Para Site, Hong Kong’s influential independent art organization, to co-curate the public Film Program, a step that strengthens the fair’s alignment with Hong Kong’s dynamic art landscape. Additionally, Art Basel debuts the MGM Discoveries Art Prize, an award designed to champion emerging artists by providing a cash prize to be shared between the artist and their representing gallery, alongside an exhibition opportunity in Macau.
In another significant collaboration, Art Basel has partnered with M+ to present Night Charades by Ho Tzu Nyen on the M+ Facade, an animated reimagining of iconic scenes from Hong Kong cinema, supported by UBS.
This edition’s signature sectors will include galleries that spotlight established and blue-chip galleries, Discoveries, which focuses on solo projects from emerging artists, and Insights, which presents curated projects from artists across Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. Notable highlights include significant solo presentations by exhibitors such as Lawrie Shabibi (Dubai), Rossi & Rossi (Hong Kong), P420 (Bologna), and Ronchini Gallery (London), alongside historic photography projects by Flowers Gallery (Hong Kong, London) and Each Modern (Taipei).
Angelle Siyang-Le, Director of Art Basel Hong Kong, remarked on the fair’s ambitious lineup, highlighting it as a “cultural crossroads and vital anchor in Asia’s ever-growing art scenes.” She added that the collaborative efforts with Para Site and the MGM Discoveries Art Prize underscore Art Basel’s commitment to fostering regional growth and celebrating local talent.
Art Basel Hong Kong 2025, with UBS as its Global Lead Partner, will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from March 28–30, with Preview Days on March 26 and 27. It promises an immersive week of exhibitions and cultural programming in Hong Kong.
