Art ideals are supposed to be above the fray of the ugly truth of reality. It is supposed to make you dream and see the world on a higher plane. Well that can be done since they started legalizing the use of medicinal marijuana (in some states – Rocky Mountain High takes on a whole new meaning.) Anyway AF came back to earth to see two artists take on the big hooplah called reality. Jefre Harwoods and Kaitlin Martin presented multi-media work and palm sized sculptures with sobering texts alluding to today’s social and cultural climate. Yet each presented their interpretations with verve in color, composition and witty aplomb. The question – What’s So Great About Reality? – which is the title of the show gets answered in so many levels. Whatever your version of reality may be, there is nothing wrong or right about it. What matters is if you can deal with it when you see it.
