The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will return to the Lincoln Center in June for a two-week, 15 performance engagement. They will be performing Matthew Rushing’s Odetta, which is about American folk and blues musician Odetta Homes, and Hofesh Shecter’s Uprising, a study of institutional violence against black males through dance. Other highlights from the show include the world premiere of Exodus by Rennie Harris, the company premiere of No Longer Silent by Robert Battle, a new production of Talley Beatty’s Toccata, and a new production of the Judith Jamison’s “A Case of You” duet from Reminiscin’. Reviews of Odetta and Uprising have been outstanding, being referred to as “a masterpiece” by the Chicago Sun-Times and called some of “the edgiest choreography the Ailey troupe has tackled yet” by the Boston Globe. The show will run from June 10th-June 21st with tickets starting at $25. You can get more information and order tickets online, at the Koch Theater box office, or by phone at 212-496-0600.
