The Fountain Art Fair 2014 was like coming home for me this year. I started going to the Fountain Art Fair since 2010, when it was originally housed in a boat docked on Pier 66 in Chelsea, floating on the Hudson River. The feeling of community and down home fun has not changed since those times. Now the 69th Regiment Armory is the home base for Fountain since 2012 and it has suited their homegrown DIY vibe, which originated in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I walked through the entirety of booths where energy, happiness and camaraderie overflowed and spilled out into the street. The absinthe mixed drinks, and hot cider offered were a delicious compliment to the extraordinary art that one was surrounded with. It certainly paid homage to the original Armory Show in 1913 at this very location. Art was new and riotous fun abound in all spectrum of life. It certainly has not wavered or faded as the bohemian spirit lived on this year and the many more years to come at Fountain Art Fair.
See you next year at Fountain 2015 and we’ll toast to the down home spirit of FUN!
