Taxidermy du jour kicks ass with the latest group show presented by House of the Nobleman at RUSH Art Gallery last February 27th. Leaving us quite literally “Breathless” at the variety of works extrapolating on the once living creatures turned into objects of beauty. Grotesque to any PETA sympathizer but prevalently an art significant moment for the art hungry masses, the whole treatise came to life by the collective of artists in this show. Namely the following: Divya Anantharaman, Charles Browning, Jennifer Catron + Paul Outlaw, Julia Colavita, Ken Currie, Jane Edden, Rachel Frank, Carson Fox, Amit Greenberg, Jane Hammond, Hugh Hayden, Aubrey Learner, Jackie Mock, Joey Parlett, Amanda Sciullo, Andrea Stanislav, Marc Swanson, Philip Taaffe, Fred Tomaselli, Chris Vicini, Paul Villinski, Adam Wallacavage, and Kimberly Witham. Art is about stimulating our senses and facilitating debate or exchange of ideas. This was clearly not a safe show to soothe your comfortable boundaries. Come and view the unsettling beauty of it all. I guarantee that it will leave you breathless.
