• The Stars Come Out on Art Night

    Any die hard art fan and gallery trooper anticipates a monumental or magical night every Thursday because that is the high holy day of their entire week. That is when they get to pay reverence to the hallowed halls of their gallery of choice and perhaps warm in the glow of the people with the brilliance of a thousand suns. There can be a smattering of a celebrity sighting and art star spotting if the heavenly bodies are lined up. January 16th was indeed a cosmic synchronicity as AF encountered the stars that brilliantly graced their presence during Art Night. First up was Fran Drescher (“The Nanny” sitcom star) at Steven Kasher Gallery while she brought along her four legged jewel aka her beloved pooch. Next up was the hard not to miss red suit of Art Forum’s Knight Landesman who added more color to the already vibrant show at 303 Gallery. Then to culminate the night, all the who’s who went to the West Village at Vito Schnabel’s space where the likes of art star Dan Colen milled about in the energetic art crowd and the legendary Jeffrey Deitch came to commiserate with the featured artist. It was a real bounty of riches to encounter all these luminaries orbiting the art world. You know what they say about stars in New York City. They are not that visible but you know they’re up there. Fate has granted us clear skies to see the stars come out that night. It is one thing that makes our art jaunts extra special but in the momentary thrill of being star struck – we felt the entire planetary system aligned perfectly.
