All signs pointed to Joshua Liner Gallery last October 24th for the opening of ICY Signs – Perfection is Standard, Mistakes Cost Extra. What a cool idea to bring you into the world of the most colorful and talented sign painters for its entire run in the gallery space so you can witness the razor sharp skills of the following: Justin Green, Matt Wright, Stephen Powers, Lew Blum, Dan Murphy, Alexis Ross, Sean Barton and Mike Lee. Distinct in its statement and proud of its purpose – signs command your attention then comprehension. All of the works are simply too cool to take in one viewing and it was enough to whip up a huge blizzard right in the middle of the gallery. Are we headed for a glacial period where every marked sign stops us cold? Well it takes a heat seeking skill set that burns a clean line when it comes to signage. Let the wattage of art star power melt the glacier size skepticism of the cold and impersonal. Just put everything in a blender then see if the art you’d like to drink is a pineapple slushy or a Pina Colada. Either way, it’s chill!
