Castle Fizjohns Gallery announces its grand opening at 98 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side (LES) of Manhattan.
The opening exhibit highlights the works of Max Wiedemann, who’s satirical tongue-in-cheek pop art has been taking the world by storm; the amazing taxidermy based work of Jake Lamagno, who uses among other media a 100 year old Baboon specimen; and the conceptually complex acrylic sculpture of Sam Tufnell, including the infamous Gnome installation which is fast becoming a LES landmark.
The works of Barry Gross, Army of One, Flavio Galvan, James Georgopolis, Ryan Keeley, Hans Petersen, GG, Ivan Roque, Ed Emrich And Zura are also currently under exhibition. While vastly different in material and sentiment, there is commonality among the pieces in their bold aesthetics and substance.
Through this opening exhibit gallery owner, Vincent Harrison, aims to bring something new to the flourishing LES art scene. “Visiting Castle Fitzjohns is an experience that is accessible to all – from the novice to the seasoned collector,” explains Harrison. “We will engage with you, and explain the concepts and motivations of the artists. You will leave feeling inspired, enriched and fulfilled!”
Harrison, who also curates the gallery’s exhibitions, has nearly two decades of industry experience, successfully heading up operations in Miami and London prior to his New York debut.
