It is October and yes the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at your corner Starbuck’s. This also means that the fall edition of the Affordable Art Fair returns to New York City at The Tunnel in Chelsea. To kick off this much anticipated and most successful U.S. fair, Affordable Art Fair hosted a fun-tasmagoric bash at the W Hotel in Times Square last Sept. 26th.
The trademark pink punched up the night. I think we can safely say that the pink represents the blushing faces and tickled pink visages of any art collector who walks away with something new in the price that is just right. In the sexy glow of the interior were participating artists, gallery representatives, and the colorful art denizens that orbit the art world. The special cocktail served that night was the “Pink Artini” and was surely wetting the whistle of every art girl and boy.
This is the fourth fall edition of Affordable Art Fair in glamorous Gotham and as always it makes purchasing art fun as the pulse of the party played out all through the night. DJ’s pumped up the crowd as they gyrated in anticipation of the great acquisitions to be had dancing in their heads. Why is it so fun to get your next possible object of beauty at Affordable Art Fair? The possibility is high that you will find a gem with a plethora of local and international galleries with artworks priced from $100 – $10,000 and half of them under $5,000.
What weighed most on the mind of the would be buyers (or some have already staked their claim) at the fair? The variety and unparalleled value one gets from Affordable Art Fair’s roster of exhibiting galleries. It is in this vein that buying art becomes enjoyable and a pursuit that can be accessed by all. Affordability may be in the pocket size of the beholder but with an art fair like this that it becomes reality.
The night ended with everyone getting a SWAG (stuff we all get) bag containing fair information, postcards and two large Kiss My Face Peace Soap. But not enough soap can wash away the fun everyone had at the W in Times Square. As the great Diana Vreeland once coined “THINK PINK” – if you are thinking of buying Couture grade art at Ready to Wear prices, Think Affordable Art Fair!
