New York based curator and artist liaison Samantha Katz is thrilled to launch the first Google Glass artist interview series on Sept. 1, 2013. Deemed Gallery Glass, this 30-day project will explore real artist studios and galleries using Google’s latest incarnation of the hands-free, ubiquitous computer.
Inspired by her involvement in the annual Brooklyn-based cultural festival Bushwick Open Studios, Katz aims to reimagine the art workspace in the digital realm while capturing the intimacy of a first-person experience. Producing one video per day, Katz will spotlight exhibitions and performances, document installations, and conduct interviews with artists. Bridging the gap between contemporary art and cutting-edge technology, Gallery Glass will introduce a new paradigm for learning about the creative process to a global audience.
Katz will become one of just 8,000 around the world as a Glass Explorer, joining the ranks of major key influencers like NASA rocket scientist Michael Interbartolo, professional athlete Bathanie Mattek-Sands, and renowned fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg.
New episodes will be posted daily from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1, 2013, via the Gallery Glass YouTube channel.
