#PPP stands for Peter Pan Posse and the lost boys (and girls) found themselves attending a group show curated by Mint&Serf that showcased the defiant underbelly of the art scene which refuses to grow up. The Lower East Side is grittier and art is born of the streets, where the expectations of contemporary art get blown out of the water. AF came to this hub of raw and edgy art last August 1st to see that NONE OF US IS GREATER THAN ALL OF US. None of the diva superstar mode is allowed as artists proved their mettle to the canvas. The posse included: Arab Parrot, Baron Von Fancy, Bob Waltzer, Cat Marnell, Clayton Petterson, Curtis Kulig, Dirty Shaun, Dylan Kraus, Erik Foss, Harry McNally, Jacuzzi Chris, Lance De Los Reyes, Mark Ferkul, Michael Anderson, Mint&Serf, Norman Seeff, Osvaldo Chance Jimenez, Pablo Power, Peter Sutherland, Pj Monte, Sean Kinney, Wyatt Neumann, and Beni Zooted. AF braved the rain and came to land on a hot show where the packed house marveled at the variety of art on the first floor and got immersed in the basement where #PPP created their version of never-neverland if Peter Pan got a punk streak. One comment from a guest stated: “This is more PUNK – with definite Chaos and Couture grade art than what the Costume Institute tried to emulate at the Met.” Yeah fuckers, this is the LES and it is customary to uphold true grit this part of Manhattan. MAKE ART OR DIE! Most important of all, never ever grow up.

“Peter Pan Posse is more than a gang. Its a mental attitude. We are born and bred New Yorkers who preserve the outlaw lifestyle. A lifestyle that chose us. We have mastered the art of surviving these city streets. We are the artists you admire, we are the drug dealers with the least cut, we throw the parties you make mistakes at. We make the music you do drugs to. We are the kids you talk shit about. We don’t sneak into parties, we sneak out of them. We don’t pay for bottles, we throw them. We get paid to play. We can’t grow up, its a full-time job not giving a fuck.”
