In her first NYC solo show entitled, The Other World, Ventiko explores the tumultuous and unknown terrain between waking expectations and private dream perversions. Drawing inspiration from Italian Renaissance paintings, she creates a busy canvas of religious iconography, alternative scenarios where perspectives collapse, almost as if to imply an element of trickery or deceit for the dreamer. Her use of found objects, including animal carcasses, as well as her organic, earth tones all allude to the natural cycle of life and its veil of beautythe darkness and npredictability of existenceparts grotesque and gorgeous. Viewers are encouraged to participate in this liminal state and embark on her voyeuristic journey; moving through the melancholic parable of existence that most know, but few ever experience. Originally from Indianapolis Indiana, Ventiko studied photography under Maestro Tony Clevenger before settling in Brooklyn, NY in 2008. Currently, she is represented by Coohaus Gallery and has exhibited in N.Y.C., L.A., Indianapolis, London, and Barcelona.
