Park Avenue Armory
Last Day of AIPAD 2013
Where can you see iconic photos that you have loved for years etched in your mind’s eyes with something new, and interesting that inspires your soul? The answer is:AIPAD. I look forward to attending AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) every year.
This year the fair greets you with an Annie Leibowitz print that sets the tone of the fair, awe inspiring, filled with the mists of grace and beauty, and as you fall, the satisfaction and serenity that a waterfall evokes.
As I moved through the booths, I was welcomed by gallerists and delved into conversations that illuminated the images, as well as the photographers. What a pleasure! The ladies at Naiya Alexander Gallery explained the life and times of two working photographers I have since become obsessed with, George Tice and Alexey Titarenko. I will definitely be at their next art opening…
Collectors, photographers, photography enthusiasts, artists, my friends and I moved from booth to booth, smiling and marveling at the work under the expansive and historic interior under the Park Avenue Armory roof.
Photographer, Bruce Davidson, was pleasantly moving through the crowd as well, saying hello to everyone. More of my favorites worth mentioning: If I could pick anything at the fair and money is no object – my dream would be owning Harry Callahan’s “Eleanor”.
And, as we neared the end of our meandering through the Armory, a bite to eat in a secluded lounge area and a self tour of the immense, historical rooms of the venue, I decided to head back in for one last shot. One quick look back and I received a surprise kiss goodbye that will tide me over till next year.
I’ll be there at the Park Avenue Armory for sure – want to join me next year?
With much fond memories and more to come for AIPAD – Olya
