AF Readers: Feedback is Needed on NYC Subway Weddings

Deukyun “Sunny” Hwang, AF photographer, is also a video artist and does interesting projects based on human reaction. Last December 27, 2012 – she went down to the NYC subways to film a series of weddings done inside a train car and involving diverse couples: African American, Asian, White, Gay/Lesbian, and Interracial. Done in renegade style and totally surprising the passengers who witnessed the declaration of love and commitment. The aim is to compile a priceless study in human reactions to such an unusual premise. Weddings are affairs done in the blinding circus of the white light but with these couples sharing back-stories in which their union is not supported by any of their family or friends that they took it underground to have the subterranean citizens witness it. All couples are actors who prepared back-stories and decided to throw themselves into the live performance.

Please check out the videos above on YouTube and cast your “LIKE” vote on which wedding you found compelling and touching. Commentaries are also welcome on the page. As avid readers of the art we feature, this is your chance to make your voice heard and be part of this socially charged project. Sunny and her 7 collaborators would appreciate your participation and feedback.

Let’s keep art going in all shapes, forms and mode of transportation!
