Sam Trioli’s solo exhibition Brumaire recently opened at Howard Yezerski Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts. Sam, a New York City based artist, provided images of the work and comments on the premise behind Brumaire.
The paintings for the exhibition handle the reduction of physical form to present suspended moments of material force. A constant separation of particles demonstrated by explosions, water pressure, burning fields, falling paratroopers and nuclear clouds compose the moments of these completely energetic happenings. Brumaire, named after brume meaning ‘the fog’ in French, symbolizes these moments as a transition between two states and uses the momentary lack of definition as a catalyst for greater meaning and repurposing. – Sam Trioli
