Haruto Robert Imamura’s use of unconventional materials and techniques explores a cultural, emotional and aesthetic consciousness. Employing such materials as coffee grounds, spray paint mixed with oil, and fire give the viewer an entirely unique experience, but the most noteworthy tactic the artist uses is the “Brush-Fire” technique. This self-developed technique involves the layering of paint on canvas, followed by strategic application of a blow torch to take out or darken sections of the canvas. The overall effect is intensely personal and aesthetically inimitable.
