Picture This: Life is So (UN)FAIR!
Armory Arts Week began with an edgy opening at the VIP Preview of THE (UN)FAIR last March 5th in a 19th century Hell’s Kitchen building that was kept raw but the art on display was high caliber. Organizers Jennifer Wallace (Co-Founder of nAscent Art New York & Director of Art) and Mikel Glass pulled in close to a hundred artworks to stage this multi-faceted show as a break from the bright glitzy white ambiance of the Armory Show which is only two blocks away. This is the first (and hopefully not the last!) time for this fair to stage a fun art fair on VIP preview night with stand-up comedians on the elevator ride, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, munch on Popcorn Indiana, and wine to toast the night away. Several installations and performance art were also on view – making this the perfect kick-off to what can be an overwhelming week of art fairs. It is simply art shining in a rough and tumble environment that will soon be turned into affordable housing. What a great gift to all art lovers and a perfect kiss off before relinquishing the space. Drop by and if you miss it, well life can sometimes be (UN)FAIR!
