All The Art That’s Fit To Be Hung and To Be Loved
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” – Pablo Picasso
When Picasso quoted that line above – I am pretty sure he wasn’t spritzing Windex or cleaning up his studio. Art livens up a space and it is no stretch for artists to create that ambiance pulsing with life. In New York City, there is one passionate organization that brings art into the lives of people everyday. nAscent Art New York is an art consultancy enterprise that champions bringing the best emerging artists to the walls and into the lives of New York art lovers.

Artists Colleen Blackard (L) and Beatriz Elorza (R) attendees at the opening for nAscent Art at Haworth
Last February 26th at the ultra chic Haworth showroom near Grand Central Terminal that they had an opening for their new exhibition, “Abstracted Space”. It featured several pieces that married well into the interiors and brought a visual punch that elevated the space into a warm environment rather than a sterile cold room. Jazz music played as guests enjoyed organic fruits and cheese from the elegant spread and this felt more like an elegant version of an art opening. The chosen art pieces were considerate of every component in the space. Welcome to the world of works classified as corporate art – which is more refined, not too distracting and a gentile hybrid of visual impact that doesn’t overwhelm the interior. nAscent Art deals not only with clients who want gems in their personal spaces but also enhances the workspaces of corporate clients.
All the selected artwork from their roster of talented artists achieved the goal of what great art can do to beautify a space. Upon entering Haworth, the series of white framed and matted art in a horizontal queue by Oliver Peters in ink, gouache, marker, and graphite works on paper were intricate tiny worlds one can get lost in. A grand sized work by David Mellen in wood varnish and pigment dynamically infused a splash of abstract vibrancy amidst an all white seating area. Erika Fortner’s Untitled Large Blueanchored very nicely with the cowhide chaise and bold red tulip swivel chairs as its dripping paints and fields matched the playfulness of the set up. TJ Volonis utilized an unconventional material like copper tubing in what he related as another representation of drawing forms.
After viewing this show, I learned that art is something to live with and grow to love. It takes a specialized group of people to pin down the art for a specific space. Putting up art on the wall is not a simple thing but it sure looks effortless.
