Public Summer Art Unveiled by Feuerman
Last May 20, 2012 at 12:30 PM at Petrosino Square in Soho where this enclave is a respite off the busy streets, Arte Fuse witnessed Carole A. Feuerman unveil her work “Survival of Serena”. The bold color and swimmer themed artwork will be a perfect summer addition and hopefully cool off the masses that will be able to view it from May 20 till September 23, 2012.
The NYC Parks and Recreation is proud to display the work of the hyperrealist sculptor as this marks the first artwork installed since the renovation of this triangular median near Spring Street and along Lafayette.
Feuerman was delighted to share her work to the city denizens who will no doubt have a pleasurable experience seeing the very detailed sculpture of painted bronze. She related that when this piece debuted as a painted resin version at the 2007 Venice Biennale, she knew that it was a special piece as curators and organizers clamored for its placement. The brisk and mild sunny day couldn’t be more perfect as she unveiled her sculpture to well wishing supporters, family, friends and enthusiastic onlookers. Along with the unveiling, MANA Contemporary has a truck with photos of the lovely sculpture displayed on its side circulating around the city. Jim Kempner Fine Art has graciously made it possible for Feuerman to showcase her work in the public sphere. A reception and artist talk at the gallery in Chelsea followed after the ceremony.
As you view the tranquil swimmer resting in an inner tube that you’ll feel the soothing nature and appeal of Feuerman’s work. The Hartford, Connecticut born and New York based artist had extensively produced a body of work specializing in swimmers or bathers. Every moisture bead will indeed refresh not only your eye, but delight with the inner quench of beholding something magnificent. “Survival of Serena” marks the beginning of a series of painted bronze sculptures by the artist.
This proves to be the perfect location where the dynamic energy of the area is ripe for placid moments and offer the opportunity for passersby to contemplate those rare times where to find stillness from the madness of the fast moving city. Spend some time gazing upon Serena to feel refreshed in the mind, body and soul.
